Programme Outline

Positive Choices Plus is an employability programme which provides intensive support to young people and provides support for young people to access opportunities which will allow them to improve their skills and life chances.  The course will run over a 9 month period consisting of the following:

4 Week engagement period with one to one support from keyworker:

  • Assessment and Action Plans

  • Support to overcome barriers including opening bank accounts, registering with health professionals, benefits advice, registering with relevant agencies

Young people will then progress on to a 4 week training programme during which they may be eligible for a training allowance of £55 per week plus travel expenses. Within these 4 weeks we’ll be covering a range of topics including:

  • SQA level 3 units in Numeracy, ICT and Communication

  • SQA Level 3 Wellbeing Award

  • Drugs and Alcohol Awareness

  • Offending

  • Employability workshops

  • Financial Advice

  • Community project

  • Workplace tasters and visits to explore opportunities

Young people will then be given keyworker support to reach a positive destination in line with their ambitions and choices.  This may include employment, further education, training or volunteering.

Ongoing support will be given to young people to sustain their destination for a further 6 months.

We are looking for young people aged 15-24 years old who are willing to participate in all elements of the programme and are looking to take the first steps to employment.
