Contact the Elderly 

Supported by a network of volunteers, the charity organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over, who live alone.

Age Concern Vale of Leven

Age Concern Vale of Leven is a social club which meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm at Alexandria Community Centre, Main Street, G83 0NU.  The club organises various activities such as entertainers, bingo, shopping trips, summer outings and Christmas dinner.  To join, there is a one off payment of £4 to become a member and then £1 per session to cover essential costs.

Health Walks 

 

Health walks are short, sociable and fun.  They are aimed at inactive people who would benefit from most from doing more physical activity.  Walks last less than an hour and are offered on a regular basis so you can get the most benefit from the activity.  The walks are led by a trainer volunteer and the routes are risk assessed to ensure your safety.  Health walks are currently led in -

Alexandria - Christie Park - Mondays 9.45am

Old Kilpatrick to Bowling - Mondays 10.30am

Clydebank - Thursdays 10am

Clydebank Men's Shed

A Men's Shed is a larger version of a typical man's shed in the garden - it's a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending.

The Clydebank Men's Shed meets on Monday's and Wednesday's at 1pm in the Middle Shed (Old Scout Hut) in grounds of Dalmuir Community Centre, Duntocher Road, Clydebank G81 4RQ

Dalmuir Lunch Club

This lunch club runs fortnightly on Fridays from 12pm-12.45pm at Dalmuir Barclay Church, 1 Durban Avenue, Dalmuir West, Clydebank, G81 4JH.

They serve a two course lunch including tea/coffee and biscuits.  The meals are freshly prepared in the church and include favourites like homemade lentil soup and mince & tatties.

Computer and iPad Classes

These classes are offered in various libraries in West Dunbartonshire.  The sessions are aimed at anyone who owns or is thinking of buying a computer, tablet, iPad or Android.  The courses will guide you through the basics of setting up and navigating your devices and then take you through some practical uses.

Bit and Blether Lunch Club 

The club provides an opportunity for older people in the community to have the chance to come together in fellowship by sharing a lovely home-cooked lunch together.

LinkUp

 

LinkUp is a telephone information line for older people in West Dunbartonshire.  The LineUp call handlers can help with just about anything, from accessing housing repairs, directions to hospitals to the day your bin is due to be emptied  The LinkUp phone line is open Monday-Friday 10am-3pm.

Stepping Stones

 

Stepping Stones provides a range of services and support to people in West Dunbartonshire who are experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety, stress and depression.  They can offer individual support through complementary therapies, such as Reiki and Indian head massage and group support through relaxation classes, social groups and Tai Chi classes.
