Occupational Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy 

The paediatric occupational therapist assess the needs of children and young people to support them to live their lives as independently and easily as possible.  

Working with the individual, their family to identify child's strengths and explore how they can overcome their challenges to achieve their full potential. 
 
The child's physical, psychological, social, and emotional challenges are assessed to support to participate in self-care, play and education.  
 
The paediatric occupational therapist enables the child to gain and maintain life skills through the use of meaningful graded activities, and empower their carers and all workers to find alternative/adaptive ways of maximising the child’s involvement in daily life.

Speech and Language Therapists assess, diagnose and treat children with a wide range of communication difficulties.

Children, their carers, family members and those closest to the child e.g. early years workers are all involved as appropriate in the delivery of outcome focused care plans.  Services are delivered in clinics, nurseries, schools, additional support needs establishments, hospitals or be domiciliary based dependent on individual needs.

Children with Disabilities 

Children with Disabilities supports children and young people aged 0-18 years who have a range of moderate to severe disabilities as well as complex health needs.

The team is responsible for assessing the needs of children and families affected by disability and providing information on a range of respite and leisure services as well as offering advice and information about local resources. 

Families and young people can refer themselves.
