Programme Outline

Tullochan Futures engages young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing a complex range of issues including mental health, homelessness, chaotic lifestyles, care leavers, criminal justice, parental responsibilities and drug and alcohol issues. We have found that subsequently many have literacy, reading and focus issues which are further compounded by difficulty in sustaining a regular attendance, at school or employment, to overcome these disadvantages.

We deliver rolling personal development programmes throughout the year from our dedicated training room at our head office. Each programme is delivered by a team of experienced youth employability and development workers and will support 12-16 young people to work on their personal development.

We recognise the importance of creating a holistic action plan for each young person to target the specific needs they have. As part of this approach we have developed a strong network of links with local partners in social work, community justice/ criminal justice, drugs and alcohol support, housing and homelessness support to provide support and advice. Based on the identified common needs we deliver the following as part of the project:

- Personal Development group work - A range of activities that supports the development of core skills, team building, goal setting, action planning and confidence building.

- Long term ongoing support for young people who have engaged with Tullochan Future even after they have moved on.

- Placement and training opportunities within our 2 social enterprises, Fashion Fix and The Common Good

- Healthy and Effective Living workshops - Housing, money advice, drugs and alcohol, mental and sexual health.

- Qualifications - REHISS, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, SQA Personal Development and other sector specific training based on the interests of the young people

- Community Projects - This will involve the group identifying, planning and undertaking a community task that produces positive results within the local area.

- Employability workshops - support the development of employability skills and introduce the young people to the world of work
