Programme Outline

Purpose of Venture Scotland

Venture Scotland delivers learning and development opportunities for young people. Through our courses we aim to build life skills, confidence and offer new opportunities for young people to overcome barriers and fulfil their potential

New Year, New Challenge, New Opportunity………..

Do you have any young people (16 – 30 years old) who are really struggling and need help now to change their lives?

…Individuals who are ready to change!!, But need help to move on from issues like habitual offending, drug and  alcohol misuse, mental health, isolation, discrimination, long-term unemployment or homelessness? Or, possibly a young person who has been looked after by the care system and would benefit from building positive new relationships and find a new sense of purpose and belonging?

Then why not join our fully funded theory based  ‘Journey to Change’ Programme - an exciting 12 month Outdoor Personal and Social Development  course, involving challenging activities and fun residential experiences that are backed up with continuous 1:1 support and reflection.

Throughout, our focus is on helping each individual to fundamentally change a negative pattern of behaviour and replace it with new skills. The programme offers participants the chance to acquire accredited qualifications including Youth Achievement Award, John Muir Award, NNAS etc, plus the motivation to find a job, enrol in further education, start vocational training or become a volunteer back in their community.

The Journey includes rock climbing, hill walking, canoeing, gorge walking, weasling (a mix of caving and scrambling) and much more!! Our residential expeditions make use of a selection of bothies in the Scottish borders as well as our (exclusive Use) bothy in stunning Kinlochetive, located at the bottom of Glen Etive near Glencoe.

Don’t delay. Call or email us now and make that change!

We are also offering taster / activity days for agency staff and management; these will run throughout the year and can be tailored to suit. The maximum number we can accommodate on one of these days, is twelve individuals, we supply all the kit, transport and lunch.

Taster days are a chance to try out an activity day meeting the staff and getting a better understanding of what’s on offer, these can take the form of Canoeing, Rock-Climbing, and Weasling etc.

NB: If there is nothing we can help with, the referral may not be appropriate.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Joanne.
