Programme Outline

Our community based courses are negotiated and planned in partnership with our learners. A learning programme can be designed to meet the specific needs of a group for example – creative writing courses, as well as  These can include:

  • Personal Development and Confidence Building classes -  PX2 and STEPS to Excellence– these courses aim to improve the confidence levels of learners and to help learners become more self aware in all areas of their lives.  There is a strong guidance element to these courses.  Courses help learners to move onto other learning opportunities including accredited learning, volunteering opportunities or into work

  • Youth Horizons programme will consist of Group work activities which are interactive, participative and non-threatening.  It will provide a context for one to one sessions where participants will assess skills, personal and work goals, and identify barriers that may be preventing them from realising their potential, helping participants to develop confidence and self esteem, assess skills and goals, develop life skills and participate in a wide range of activities.

Sessions will assist the development of the five Core Skills; Communication, ICT, Problem Solving, Numeracy and Working with Others. In addition, it will provide an informal context where focus is placed upon increasing participants abilities to engage in personal and social development.

Participants will develop a further understanding of the employment landscape; offering support to develop key skills such as Employment research and organizing employment resources. It will introduce them to constructing and maintaining a CV, enable them to develop an understanding of interview scenarios, employer expectations and gain confidence. Finally, it will enable participants to engage with a range of providers who may be able to provide support in finding a positive destination for the learner.
